In our school, collective worship is a key part of our daily life and plays an important role in the school’s spiritual and moral development. Each day, pupils and staff are invited to engage with collective worship in their own way, making it inclusive, and through the week have the opportunity to reflect on the content and how it can impact their lives.

Each week, different staff lead worship and we welcome visitors from different denominations of Christianity in the local community to lead worship, too. We also visit out local church for services at least four times a year - harvest, Christmas, Easter and a summer blessing.

Each half-term we focus on a different Christian Value, following a two-year rolling programme outlined below. The value we are focussing on for that half-term inspires our choices of bible stories for our collective worship. This half-term, we are focussing on generosity.

At the end of each week, we celebrate children’s achievements within the class setting as well as those who have been nominated for demonstrating the value. We believe that by living out these values our pupils are developing their spirituality and are being guided to become responsible, compassionate and respectful citizens.

Collective Worship is structured around four key elements: Gathering, Engaging, Responding, Sending.

The children are regularly given the opportunity to respond and reflect more deeply on a Worship’s theme, within their classes, and these responses are captured in their Class Reflection Book.
