Voluntary Aided Status

Worstead CE School is currently considering conversion from Voluntary Controlled (VC) status to Voluntary Aided (VA) status. This is not a form of academisation. All Church of England schools in the Diocese of Norwich are either a VC school, a VA school or a DNEAT academy. There are several key differences between VC and VA, and governors believe that VA status will bring significant benefits to Worstead. Stakeholder groups have been informed and consulted on the proposal to convert.

Altering the status of a maintained (i.e. a government funded) school must follow a prescribed process in order to ensure it has been carried our correctly at each stage. Updates will be placed on this page where necessary and shared via letter and/or email. Updates will also be placed at school entrances, noticeboards and in the press to ensure the widest possible stakeholder audience.

Having considered the consultation responses received in writing, verbally and online, the governors of Worstead CE VC Primary School agreed to proceed to the next stage of the conversion process at their Full Governing Body meeting on 17th July 2019. To ensure a continuous four-week period for this to be carried out it was held over to start in the Autumn Term 2019.

  • The representation period starts on Thursday 12th September, at which time the above Prescribed Information and Public Notice are also displayed at the school entrances, noticeboard and in the North Norfolk News.
  • Copies of the full proposal can be obtained from the school office either in person between 0830 and 1600 weekdays; by emailing office@worstead.norfolk.sch.uk; by calling 01692 536309 or by writing to: The Chair of Governors, Worstead CE VC Primary School, Honing Road, Worstead, North Walsham, NR28 9RQ. The full proposal is also displayed on the school noticeboard for parents to read, outside the school building.
